This set of books is a major textbook material for foreign College students of higher levels pursuing Chinese. It is also suitable for those with similar Chinese level. This set of 3 textbooks is separated into book 1 and 2 for the Third year and 1 book for the Fourth year. Each has 10 lessons. Selected texts are prose, essay, novel, explanatory writing, practical writing, and discussion writings, etc. Literary styles are diverse and topics are broad.

“Advanced Modern Chinese” is compiled by Chinese Language and Cultural School of Beijing Language & Culture University. Compilers are instructors with years of experience in teaching as well as textbooks writing.

Book 1 and 2 has 4 units with 20 lessons. Book 1 is organized in 9 sections: text, annotation, pondering question, vocabulary list, synonym, word example, word explanation, grammar prompt and practice drill. Book 2 has 8 sections with a replacement of rhetorical fundamental for word explanation and grammar prompt.
